Are you a procrastinator? Do you often find yourself waiting until a deadline is just hours away before tackling a project, assignment or conversation? The truth is some us seem to do our best work when we feel that pressure of time running out or in do-or-die moments. The burst of adrenaline can often pull out a greater sense of clarity, courage or creativity. The problem comes when we underestimate what the task will actually require or when the cares and trials of life throw a wrench in our planned approach. For example, your supervisor needs a powerpoint done for a big meeting at the end of the month and you know that it usually only takes you a day or two to put one together so you plan to start on it the week before it's due. When the time comes for you to start on it, your boss asks you to do some research on something else for the meeting and your child gets sick or you have trouble getting to work or worse yet the computers are down for a while so you can't access what you need for the presentation. We can't always plan for the unexpected obstacles but we can tackle the things we need to do in a timely manner so that we don't let them become collateral damage in a sometimes chaotic unpredictable world.
God is calling us to actively seek Him and call on Him without delay. He makes Himself available but it is up to us to take advantage of that opportunity. Tomorrow may seem like as good a time as any to start but there is no better time than the present. It is the only time you can be sure that you have. Right now. This moment. Don't let the enemy draw you into a false sense of security by making you think you have time to work on some things first. Delaying Christ is denying the awesomeness and necessity of giving Him your life. Why take the chance on missing out when you don't have to? He doesn't want you to miss all He can do for you and in you. Seek Him now.
