You're Getting Warmer

“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!”
— Revelation 3:15-16 (NLT)

With so many worthy causes, life demands, changing circumstances, opportunities and challenges it is easy to accept having a short attention span. After all, what's the harm if we don't feel like finishing what we start? Short attention spans lead to indifferent attitudes. Yes, you may be filled with excitement and passion about that new idea or that new position you volunteered for but do you have the focus and discipline to push yourself when the excitement wears off? Serving God is not a fad or trend. God does not change so the works he calls us to do in the church and the ministry are just as important to Him today as they were yesterday. Don't let feelings dictate your level of commitment. When we agree to serve in a position or on a committee that benefits the work of God, we must not get trapped by the cares of this world and lose focus. Others are depending on us and watching us. Our testimony must include a life that is on fire for the things of God. That includes His people and His house.  What areas are you becoming slack in? Search them out. Ask God to reveal them to you. Now remember why it's important and pray for direction as you renew your commitment to serve with passion.  Now you're getting warmer.
